Shuttle Service

AT Hostel & Outfitters is a licensed shuttle service providing quality transportation to many points in the Katahdin region. We service the northernmost 115 miles of the Appalachian Trail from Monson to Katahdin, as well as the 138.4 miles of the Maine International Appalachian Trail from its southern terminus in Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument to the Canada border.

Our shuttle service is only for guests staying at AT Hostel. We no longer shuttle non-guests.

All hikers looking to climb Katahdin are required to have a Katahdin Trailhead Pass or a campsite reservation to be shuttled to a Katahdin Trailhead. Using a shuttle service does not bypass the need for a reservation/pass.

Getting to Bangor:

You can fly into Bangor International Airport or take a bus from Concord Trailways or Greyhound. We highly recommend Concord over Greyhound, as Concord has multiple buses each day that will get you into Bangor in time to catch the Cyr bus.

Getting to Millinocket from Bangor:

From Bangor, you will take the Cyr Bus northbound to Medway, Maine.  The bus leaves Concord Coach Lines: Bus Terminal (one mile from the airport) at 5:30 p.m. EST every day.  You will arrive in Medway at 6:40 p.m. From there we will shuttle you to AT Hostel.

Getting from Millinocket to Bangor:

If you are flying out of Bangor, we recommend booking your flight after 12 p.m. EST. This way, you can utilize public transportation to make your flight.  Many hikers choose to take our daily 9:00 a.m. shuttle to the Medway bus stop.  From there, you can catch the 9:30 a.m. Cyr Bus to Bangor.  In Bangor, you can utilize the Concord Coach bus line, walk to the airport, or go to Greyhound. We highly recommend Concord over Greyhound.

Our Katahdin, Abol Bridge, and Medway shuttles run at the same time every day.

Katahdin Stream Ranger Station: Our morning shuttle departs from our location at 6:00 a.m. with a 7:00 - 7:30 a.m. drop off & pick up. Our afternoon shuttle departs from our location at 3:00 p.m. with a 4:00 - 4:30 p.m. drop off & pick up.

Abol Bridge: Our morning shuttle departs from our location at 6:00 a.m. or 7:15 a.m. with an 8:00 a.m. drop off & pick up. Our afternoon shuttle departs from our location at 3:00 p.m. with a 4:45 - 5:15 p.m. drop off & pick up.

Medway Cyr Bus: Our morning shuttle departs from our location at 9:00 a.m. with a 9:20 a.m. drop off for the southbound Cyr bus to Bangor. Our evening shuttle picks up at 6:40 p.m. from the northbound Cyr bus from Bangor, with a 7:00 - 7:30 p.m. arrival at our Hostel, depending on if the bus is running late.
